CEEO Graduate Work on AI

In December 2020, Tufts Center for Engineering Education and Outreach (CEEO) graduate student Ziyi Zhang and Sara Willner-Giwerc collaborated to run three one-hour robotics sessions with high school students in Malden remotely. The goal of these sessions was to introduce basic AI, especially reinforcement learning (RL) concepts to the students.

Teacher Engineering Education Program (TEEP) Fall 2021

The CEEO is excited to announce that the Teacher Engineering Education Program (TEEP) is now accepting applications for Fall 2021. TEEP is for any practicing elementary, middle school, or high school teacher who is seeking to change or expand their approach through the integration of engaging hands-on engineering principles in their coursework.

Simple Robotics (EN1) Final Projects

In the fall 2020 semester, Dr. Ethan Danahy, Research Associate Professor from Tufts Center for Engineering Education and Outreach (CEEO), taught a section of the introductory engineering course for Tufts first-year School of Engineering students called Simple Robotics.

Engineering Design Lab and Tufts CEEO

In summer 2020, Tufts Center for Engineering Education and Outreach (CEEO) collaborated with Tufts University College to teach a virtual engineering workshop, Engineering Design Lab (EDL) which is a Pre-College program for High School students focused on exploring the fundamentals of robotics and computation. EDL was taught by Tufts CEEO Research Assistant Professor, Jennifer Cross.

Tufts CEEO and LEGO Build the Change

Sara Willner-Giwerc, Tufts Center for Engineering Education and Outreach (CEEO) PhD Candidate, shares her work with the LEGO Build Challenge, which explores important topics related to the environment and society and asks kids to tap into their imaginations and come up with solutions to big problems.

2020 Collaboration with PTC

Supported by gifts from PTC, Tufts Center for Engineering Education and Outreach (CEEO) hired a team of undergraduate interns to do research on 3D modeling environments in learning contexts over the summer. They worked on generating curricular supports for students learning Onshape, creating digital twins of LEGO robots that could simulate the physical robot’s motion, and developing new interfaces for spatial computing (control and monitor of robots in augmented reality).

CEEO Haunted House 2020

This year the 3rd Annual Nolop Makerspace Haunted House took place virtually on Friday, October 30, 2020. The event was sponsored by the Tufts Center for Engineering Education and Outreach (CEEO), Nolop Makerspace, and the School of Engineering (SOE), and featured projects from first-year engineering students in Professor Ethan Danahy’s Simple Robotics class.

This winter Tufts CEEO is offering two January Design and Engineering Workshops: LEGO Robotics for Beginners and Advanced LEGO Robotics. Participants will be responsible for purchasing their own LEGO Education SPIKE Prime Kit.
